At Tiger Cubs we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), which is divided into prime and specific areas of learning and development:
Prime
We believe strongly in the importance of play and learning through fun, recognising the importance of positive relationships and an enabling environment. Children are given plentiful opportunities and time to play and explore independently and with peers, and also experience a variety of activities. These activities include cooking, musical and physical activities, as well as crafts and messy play. To encourage and promote children's learning, we enjoy welcoming visitors to the setting (e.g. local police, firefighters and crossing patrols) and also enjoy visits to our local community. Trips we have enjoyed include visiting the greengrocers, care home and a local signing café.
We explore numbers through 'Ten Town', a unique early years numeracy scheme involving lots of fun characters and we explore letters and sounds through Jolly Phonics. Inky the mouse is a character from Jolly Phonics and is a much loved mouse at Tiger Cubs!

Record Keeping
We use West Sussex Learning Journals to keep records on all children. They are completely confidential and accessed only by staff. Parents are welcome to read their child's Learning Journal at any time and they are given opportunities to discuss their child's Learning Journal twice a year.
We have a Key Person system in place; this means each child will be allocated a member of staff who will ensure their learning and care is tailored to their individual needs. The Key Person will support the child in settling in to the setting and will build a relationship with the child and their family.
"Our little boy went to Tiger Cubs and we couldn't recommend them highly enough.
We were new to the area and he settled in so quickly, making lots of new friends.
He has really blossomed and learnt lots with the support of his lovely teachers at Tiger Cubs
and we feel confident that he is now well prepared for school"
